FIELD CARE

After collecting the specimen, keep it cool and dry.  Put it in a plastic bag and freeze as soon as possible or get it to us as soon as possible.  Specimens kept in the freezer too long can get freezer burn and although they may still be mounted, the quality of the mount may be jeopardized.   If you are planning to keep a fish for an extended period of time in the freezer, make sure you wrap it in a wet towel and put in a plastic bag and then put in freezer. 
DO NOT WRAP IN NEWSPAPER FOR THIS CAUSES FREEZER BURN.
